The LS2 engine, part of GM’s Generation IV small-block family, was introduced in 2005 as a 6.0-liter V8. It replaced the LS1 and powered several performance models, including the Corvette C6, Pontiac GTO, and Cadillac CTS-V. With its aluminum block and heads, the LS2 combined lightweight construction with durability. Stock performance output was 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, thanks to its larger displacement, higher compression ratio, and refined internals. The LS2’s reliability, tunability, and aftermarket support have made it a staple among performance enthusiasts. Whether used in factory form or as a base for upgrades like camshaft changes, turbocharging, or supercharging, the LS2 continues to be celebrated for its balance of strength and performance potential.
